Thank you guys so much for your support! I knew I could count on it. Please forgive me for not addressing you individually (yet) – I just wanted to let you know I had read your comments and had grinned from ear to ear the first time I read them – and now days later – still am grinning after reading them again.

It is invaluable to me to hear that I’m somewhat on the right path – and not that you could tell me that I am on the right path for myself – but more that you would all support me on my plan and hold me (to the best of your ability) accountable – if only to witness the event, you know? So thank you very much.

I support CeCe in her goals of higher education. I have no beef with the Big Ten(11) either – I hold degrees from 2 of the 11 – but Ohio State? Make my blood run cold. Most of the Ohio State grads I know worship at the altar of John Watson / B.F. Skinner. Not me. But, since CeCe is not interested in a field relating to sociology / anthropology / educational theory she’ll probably be okay as a Buckeye. Besides, that puts her less than five hours from me in the midwest. Arise CeCe – go forth and kick butt and take names! And I don’t care what your philo prof says – Plato’s Cave is NOT just about envy. My $.02. Benway out.

PS re scholarship – I know absolutely nothing about studying in the US, so i’m definately the person to comment on this.

Just remember who you’re up against, a bunch of spotty 17 year old preppy kids who haven’t ever had to do their own shopping (quick apology to anyone who hasn’t done shopping AND lives in Ohio).

I know it’s only a year or two in age, but believe me, if you think you’re struggling to fill the ‘life experience / voluntary activities’ bit of the forms, they are struggling to spell ‘extra-curricular’.

OMG you missed a major opportunity here! You should have replied back, “Why five? Is it better than seven or three by its very nature? Is it intrisically good?” and then try not to smirk as you watch him fight dropping his mind into philosophy mode, and failing. You should do that next time the opportunity, um, presents. It has to equate to foreplay for him and would be a source of giggles for you.
